Open Heavens 13 June 2026 Saturday -Poverty ≠ Godliness

MEMORISE: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 2

READ: 2 Kings 4:1-7 Open Heavens 13 June 2026

1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.

3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

5 So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.

6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.

7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 13 June 2026 Saturday Daily Devotional

In the 70s, when I became born again, it was widely believed among Christians that poverty is one of the criteria for being a true child of God. This belief was so strong that when someone gifted me a Mercedes- Benz, I parked it in my garage unused for months until the Lord told me I was hindering the blessings of the person who gave me the car by not using it. I was afraid that people would think I had backslidden if they saw me in such an expensive car. Because of what the Lord had said to me, I decided to drive the car just once, and I recall that I felt so ashamed that day. After that day, I said, “Lord, I have driven the car, can I sell it now?” He agreed, and I sold it. Not long after that, someone gave me a limousine with six doors. When I saw it, I said, “Lord, you know that even if they put my dead body in this car, it will jump out of it.” That is how much we thought that poverty was directly proportional to godliness in those days, and because of that, the devil cheated us. He raised people to take over companies and industries until Christians were at the mercy of evil people running different economies around the world.

There is nothing godly about poverty; it has sent many people to hell, just as riches have done. Poverty has made many youths decide never to follow the path of their Christian parents because of how badly they suffered while growing up. It has made the people of the world mock the Almighty God because they thought that Christians were dumb as a result of their devotion to God.

In today’s Bible reading, one of Elisha’s proteges died in poverty and left an inheritance of debt for his family. If his wife had not run to Elisha and received the word of the Lord that turned their poverty to wealth, his two sons, who were facing a lifetime of slavery, could have grown up hating God even though their father was a godly man.

God is not poor (Haggai 2:cool, so poverty is not godliness. God gives his children power to make wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18), and it is His desire to prosper them even as their soul prospers (3 John 1:2).

Beloved, reject poverty! It is not the will of God for your life.

Hymn 26: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessings

1 There shall be showers of blessing:

This is the promise of love;

There shall be seasons refreshing,

Sent from the Savior above.

Refrain

Showers of blessing,

Showers of blessing we need;

Mercy-drops round us are falling,

But for the showers we plead.

2 There shall be showers of blessing—

Precious reviving again;

Over the hills and the valleys,

Sound of abundance of rain.

3 There shall be showers of blessing;

Send them upon us, O Lord!

Grant to us now a refreshing;

Come, and now honor Thy Word.

4 There shall be showers of blessing;

O that today they might fall,

Now as to God we’re confessing,

Now as on Jesus we call!

5 There shall be showers of blessing,

If we but trust and obey;

There shall be seasons refreshing,

If we let God have His way.

Prayer Points for Open Heavens 13 June 2026 – Poverty ≠ Godliness

1. Father, I thank You for the revelation that poverty is not godliness. Thank You for Your desire to prosper me even as my soul prospers, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have believed the lie that being poor makes me more spiritual or closer to You, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, deliver me from the spirit of poverty that has kept me bound, making me unable to bless others or advance Your kingdom with my resources, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, just as You turned the widow’s little oil into abundance to pay her debts and save her sons, turn every lack in my life into supernatural abundance, in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, I reject the mentality that wealth is ungodly. You have given me power to make wealth, and I receive that power today to prosper for Your glory, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, break every cycle of inherited poverty in my family line. Let my children and their children not suffer because of lack, but be blessed to be a blessing, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, open my eyes to the pot of oil in my possession—the little I have that You can multiply for my deliverance and prosperity, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, I pray for every Christian who has been mocked by the world because of poverty. Let their testimonies of abundance silence the mockers and bring glory to Your name, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, let me never be a reproach to You because of lack. Use my prosperity to support the work of the gospel and to lift others out of poverty, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific financial debts, lack, or poverty cycles you want God to break, and ask for His supernatural provision).

11. Thank You, Father, for the promise of showers of blessing. I receive my financial breakthrough and declare that poverty has no place in my life, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
