MESSAGE:  – Open Heavens 4 May 2026 Monday Daily Devotional

I am 84 years old, I have been born again for 53 years, and by God’s grace, I have been the General Overseer of RCCG for 45 years. To the glory of God, I am still working tirelessly for my Daddy even at my age. I have remained a strong Christian, and the church has continued to grow by God’s grace. Over the next few days, I will share some secrets about longevity with you and tell you how to remain on God’s path for your life without going astray.

The first secret to longevity is knowing when to hide, when to fight, and when to run. Many Christians think that because they are in Christ, they never have to hide; after all, the One with all power is backing them up. This is why many believers have not stayed on the path that God has set before them and have ended their race prematurely. In 1 Kings 17:1, after Elijah told the king that there would be no rain until he commands it, it was God Himself who told him to go and hide. There will always be a time to hide if you are going to last long. Elijah had proclaimed himself as the only one who could bring the rain back, so naturally, I believe that there would have been a lot of pressure on him to command the rain to return. Therefore, rather than facing that pressure, he had to go into hiding. Whenever you notice that there will be pressure on you to say certain things or take some actions prematurely or without specific instruction from God, you should go into hiding.

For instance, no matter how pressured I feel to speak before elections in Nigeria or when something significant happens, l always keep silent if God has not yet spoken. This is why people still want to hear what I have to say after all these years, because they know that it will be from God. Another time to hide is when brethren try to fight you.

God never supports Christians fighting each other; rather, we are to love one another, which is what differentiates us from unbelievers (John 13:34-35). Therefore, to ensure that you do not get into fights with brethren who are trying to pick fights with you, don’t respond to them; rather, go into hiding. May God give you the wisdom to hide yourself when required so that you can stay the course and fulfil His perfect will for your life.

Prayer Points for Open Heavens 4 May 2026 – SECRETS TO LONGEVITY

1. Father, I thank You for the wisdom in Your word that teaches me that there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. Thank You for the gift of longevity in Your service, in Jesus’ name.

2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have spoken without Your direction, fought unnecessary battles, or failed to hide when I should have, thereby putting my destiny at risk, in Jesus’ name.

3. Father, give me the wisdom of Elijah to know when to hide. When there is pressure on me to speak or act prematurely, let me retreat into Your presence and wait for Your instruction, in Jesus’ name.

4. Lord, help me to discern the times and seasons of my life. When it is time to hide, let me hide; when it is time to fight, let me fight in Your strength; when it is time to run, let me run according to Your will, in Jesus’ name.

5. Father, deliver me from the pride that makes me think I never need to hide because You are with me. Teach me that even the greatest prophets hid themselves at Your command, in Jesus’ name.

6. Lord, when brethren try to fight me, give me the grace to refuse to respond. Help me to love them and hide myself rather than engage in conflicts that displease You and cut short my race, in Jesus’ name.

7. Father, let my words be weighty and timely, coming from Your Spirit. Help me to keep silent until You speak, so that after many years, people will still know that my words are from You, in Jesus’ name.

8. Lord, I pray for every believer who has been pressured to act against Your timing. Let them find the courage to hide in You and wait for Your perfect season, in Jesus’ name.

9. Father, I receive the grace to stay the course and fulfill Your perfect will for my life without going astray. Let me not end my race prematurely through foolish actions or reactions, in Jesus’ name.

10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific situations where you need wisdom to know whether to hide, fight, or run, and ask God for discernment).

11. Thank You, Father, for the secrets to longevity. I will hide in You, wait on You, and trust You for many fruitful years in Your service, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
