Open Heavens 23 April 2026 Thursday – Divine Visitation I
MEMORISE: Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. Job 10:12
READ: 1 Samuel 16:1-11 Open Heavens 23 April 2026
1 And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
2 And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And the LORD said, Take an heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to the LORD.
3 And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will shew thee what thou shalt do: and thou shalt anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee.
4 And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?
5 And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.
6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’S anointed is before him.
7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab, and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
9 Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
10 Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not chosen these.
11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Kings 14-16

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 23 April 2026 Thursday Daily Devotional
Today’s memory verse shows that God’s visitation brings life and preservation. When God visits a fellow, things begin to change positively in his or her life. His visitation always leaves a lasting mark in the lives of those He visits. In today’s Bible reading, God told Samuel to go to Jesse’s house to anoint the next king. When he got there, Jesse presented all his sons to him, except David. This shows the extent to which David was disregarded by his own family.
However, the Almighty God had arranged a divine visitation for David while he was busy looking after his father’s sheep. God instructed Samuel to anoint him in the presence of his family members, and from that day on, things began to change positively in his life.
And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Genesis 28:13-14
In the Scripture above, the Almighty God visited Jacob, and from that day on, the blessings of the Lord became evident in his life. He became prosperous and continued to find favour in the sight of God and man. When God visited Sarah, she laughed for joy, and those who heard her story rejoiced with her (Genesis 21:1-6). God also visited Hannah, and her years of barrenness and sorrow vanished (1 Samuel 1:19-20).
Likewise, when He visited Joseph, his years of suffering, slavery, and hardship vanished overnight; he woke up as a prisoner but ended the day as Pharaoh’s second-in-command (Genesis 41:14, 41-44). The day God visited the man at the pool of Bethesda was the day he walked. Before then, he had been paralysed for 38 years (John 5:1-9).
Beloved, my Daddy specialises in making the impossible possible. If you are stuck in what seems like a hopeless situation, cry out to Him today and ask for a divine visitation. Inasmuch as you are His child, He will heed your cry and cause a positive turnaround in your life. I pray that God will visit you today, and every impossibility in your life will become possible, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens 23 April 2026 Thursday Hymn
Hymn 15: Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour
1 Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
2 Let me at a throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief. [Refrain]
3 Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace. [Refrain]
4 Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heav’n but Thee? [Refrain]
Prayer Points for Open Heavens 23 April 2026 – DIVINE VISITATION I
1. Father, I thank You for the promise of divine visitation that brings life, favour, and preservation. Thank You for visiting Your servants throughout the Scriptures and turning their situations around, in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have been disregarded like David, overlooked by men, or felt forgotten by my own family. Forgive me for any bitterness that has taken root in my heart, in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, visit me today, just as You visited David in the sheepfold. Let the oil of anointing flow upon my head in the presence of those who have overlooked me, and let my destiny be elevated, in Jesus’ name.
4. Lord, according to Job 10:12, let Your visitation preserve my spirit, my health, my marriage, and my destiny. Let every attack of the enemy against my life be neutralized by Your presence, in Jesus’ name.
5. Father, as You visited Jacob at Bethel and blessed him to spread abroad, visit me and let every blessing You have promised manifest in my life. Let me find favour with God and man, in Jesus’ name.
6. Lord, just as You visited Sarah and turned her barrenness into laughter and testimony, visit every barren area of my life womb, finances, ministry, business and cause me to rejoice, in Jesus’ name.
7. Father, like Hannah, I have waited for my visitation. Let every sorrow and reproach of barrenness vanish today. Remember me and grant me the desires of my heart, in Jesus’ name.
8. Lord, as You visited Joseph in prison and made him second-in-command in a day, let my season of suffering, slavery, and hardship end now. Let me rise from obscurity to prominence by Your power, in Jesus’ name.
9. Father, for the man at Bethesda who was paralysed for 38 years, his visitation came when Jesus showed up. Let the Man, Christ Jesus, visit me today, and let every paralysis in my life physical, spiritual, financial be broken, in Jesus’ name.
10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific hopeless situations in your life where you need a divine visitation health, career, family, spiritual growth and ask God to come through for you).
11. Thank You, Father, for the assurance that You will not pass me by. I receive my divine visitation today, and every impossibility in my life becomes possible, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
