Do You Know The Kind of Friend You Have?

A friend is someone you feel comfortable being with for different reasons and seasons.

Friendships can be at different levels and for different reasons. You can have casual, good, very close or bosom friends.

Let’s discuss 3 categories of friends here.

Friends for a season.

We all have seasons in our lives. For instance your teenage years, high school years, prom years, school runs years etc. are seasons of life You can easily become friends with anyone you share these seasons with. You do not need a deliberate effort to make friends with anyone in any of these groups if you belong to one.

However, you must realise and accept that the majority of the friends you make during this season will end when the season ends unless you deliberately find another reason for the friendship to continue.

Friends for a reason

This type of friendship requires a deliberate step and action. You will have to choose who matches your expectations and requirements.

Note that you can find this group of friends from your seasonal group of friends but you will need to put in extra effort. You also need to be aware that the friend you find might not have all the qualities or attributes you are looking for in a friend. If your reason(s) for searching for a friend must be fulfilled, you must deliberately outline and discuss your reasons with your new friend.

A good friend

A good friend is for all seasons and every reason. They stay with you through good and bad times. They sacrifice anything to make sure you are okay. This type of friend is not selfish. The friendship is laced with kindness, and patience, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, it does not dishonour others. It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs, it does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes for better things, always perseveres and never fails.
