Open Heavens 6 April 2026 Monday – Fire Carriers
MEMORISE: But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah. 2 Kings 3:11
READ: 2 Kings 2:1-14 Open Heavens 6 April 2026
1 And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2 And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel.
3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
4 And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5 And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
6 And Elijah said unto him, Tarry, I pray thee, here; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.
7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
8 And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Samuel 17-19

MESSAGE: – Open Heavens 6 April 2026 Monday Daily Devotional
When a piece of wood is set on fire, it burns. Similarly, a fellow who has given his or her life to Jesus Christ can burn for Him, and the fire that burns in such a believer is the power of the Holy Spirit.
There are two ways by which a believer can catch fire: directly from God, just like Moses and Elijah, or through other people who have caught the fire of God and have become fire carriers. For example, Joshua received his fire from Moses (Deuteronomy 34:9), and Elisha received his from Elijah (1 Kings 19:19). Joshua was called Moses’ servant (Joshua 1:1), and wherever Moses went, he was there to serve him. While Joshua served Moses faithfully, the latter laid his hands on him, and he received the spirit of wisdom. If you feel like you are too important to serve those whom God has placed over you, it means that you are not ready to carry the fire of God. Serving Moses could not have been easy, but Joshua willingly paid the price.
In Exodus 24:13-18, the Bible says that he went with Moses to Mount Sinai, where they stayed for 40 days and nights. He served Moses wholeheartedly, and when Moses laid his hands upon him, he transferred all the honor and grace he had to him (Numbers 27:18-23). This is why, as a child of God, you must honor those whom God has placed over you.
Elisha was another person who received God’s fire through honor and service. People knew him as the man who poured water on Elijah’s hands (2 Kings 3:11).
Despite his wealthy background, he was willing to stoop very low to honor and serve God’s prophet, Elijah. While the other sons of the prophets were busy predicting what would happen to Elijah (2 Kings 2:3), Elisha was busy following the man of God and serving him. Eventually, he received a double portion of the anointing that was upon Elijah.
Beloved, if you want to be a carrier of the fire of God, you must serve Him wholeheartedly and be willing to also serve and honor the anointed people He has placed over your life. I pray for you today: may you never become too proud to honor and serve those whom God has placed over your life. In the name above every other name, you will carry the fire of God upon your life and do mighty exploits in His kingdom.

Serving and honoring the people whom God has placed over you is a channel through which you can receive His fire. When a piece of wood is set on fire, it burns.
Open Heavens 6 April 2026 Monday Hymn
Hymn 7: I Am Thine O Lord
1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith,
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Refrain:
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3 O the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!
4 There are depths of love that I yet may know
Ere Thee face to face I see;
There are heights of joy that I yet may reach
Ere I rest in peace with Thee.
Prayer Points for Open Heavens 6 April 2026 – FIRE CARRIERS
1. Father, I thank You for the fire of the Holy Spirit that empowers Your children to do mighty exploits. Thank You for the examples of Moses, Elijah, Joshua, and Elisha as fire carriers, in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, I ask for mercy for every time I have been too proud to serve those whom You have placed over me, or have dishonored the anointed vessels You have sent into my life, in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, let the fire of the Holy Spirit fall upon me today. Whether directly from You or through the laying on of hands of Your servants, let me catch Your fire and burn for Your kingdom, in Jesus’ name.
4. Lord, give me the spirit of Joshua—faithful, serving, and patient. Help me to stay close to my spiritual leaders, learning from them and honoring them, even when others are distracted by predictions and gossip, in Jesus’ name.
5. Father, like Elisha, give me the determination to follow my spiritual father until the very end. Let me not be separated by distance, discouragement, or distraction. Let me see the chariots of fire and receive a double portion of Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
6. Lord, I receive the grace to pour water on the hands of Your servants—to serve humbly and selflessly, no matter how lowly the task. Let my service open the door for Your fire to rest upon me, in Jesus’ name.
7. Father, take away every spirit of entitlement and pride. Let me never feel that I am too important to serve. Let my heart be like that of Elisha, who left his wealthy background to follow and serve Elijah, in Jesus’ name.
8. Lord, as Joshua received the spirit of wisdom through Moses’ hands, let every anointing, honor, and grace that rests upon my spiritual fathers flow into my life through faithful service and honor, in Jesus’ name.
9. Father, I pray for every believer reading this. Let them not miss their season of fire because of pride or rebellion. Let them honor those whom You have set over them and catch the fire that will make them do mighty exploits, in Jesus’ name.
10. My personal prayer point: (Mention specific spiritual leaders you need to honor and serve better, and ask God for a humble heart to receive His fire through them).
11. Thank You, Father, for the promise of Your fire. I receive it today, and I will burn for You all the days of my life, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
